Gary Duanne Amis Sr.

Gary Duanne Amis Sr., 46, of North Vernon passed away at 12:51 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his residence.

Born May 20, 1971 in Ft Ord, California; Mr. Amis was the son of Oscar John and Mary Johnson Amis. He married Joanne Combest on February 16, 1991 at the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. She survives.

Mr. Amis was a 1990 graduate of Jennings County High School.  He worked one year for the Jennings County Highway Department and had previously made bags at Sonoco for ten years in North Vernon. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. Mr. Amis enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching races especially NASCAR.

Surviving with his wife Joanne Amis are a son, Gary D. (Jessica) Amis Jr. of Holton; daughters, Andrea Anthony and Alexandrea (Randall Genda) Amis both of North Vernon; mother, Mary (Jim) Gillespie of North Vernon; brother, Daryl (Christina) Amis of Brownstown; grandchildren, Addiesyn Jackson and Ryliegh Genda both of North Vernon and Jacob Arnholt of Holton.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral service for Mr. Amis will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Daryl Amis officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
