Lela Faye (Brown) Staples

Lela Faye Staples, 59, of North Vernon passed away at 3:57 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

 Born February 2, 1958 in Columbus, Mrs. Staples was the daughter of Walter and Hazel Coy Brown. She married Robert “Bob” Staples on December 28, 2002 in Nashville; he survives.

Mrs. Staples worked for Madison State Hospital in Madison and the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in North Vernon for over 30 years until retiring in 2014. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, yardwork, animals especially dogs and cats, watching birds, painting; she especially enjoyed spending time family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Staples of North Vernon; several brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Mrs. Staples will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Barb and Bob Shepard officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
