Louis Chandler Johnson

Louis Chandler Johnson, 78, of North Vernon passed away at 2:24 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his residence.

Born July 18, 1938 in Bedford, Kentucky, Mr. Johnson was the son of Fred and Gladys Thomas Johnson. He married Doris E. Pacheco on December 12, 1962 in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on September 19, 2010

Mr. Johnson worked Tool and Die, and was owner of Centerville Machine Shop in North Vernon. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1959. Mr. Johnson enjoyed gardening, taking drives in the country, fishing, watching Westerns, going dancing, splitting wood and he loved animals.

He is survived by sons, David Louis (Phyllis)  Roybal of Clovis, New Mexico  and Scott Johnson of North Vernon;  daughters, Deborah (Harrison Combs) DeLaGarza of Houston, Texas, Colleen Simpson and Tammy Lehman both of North Vernon; sister, Juanita Singleton of Vernon; grandchildren, Chris (Kelsey Neujahr) Lehman of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jake (Alicia Morales) Mathews of Houston, Texas, Archie and Fernando Roybal of Clovis, New Mexico, Kyle Eder, Cory Johnson, Devon Simpson and Denza Simpson all of North Vernon, Orin Johnson and Thomas Johnson both of Butlerville and great-grandchild, Iris Lehman of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son Martin E. Johnson; and several siblings.

A funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service with military honors provided by members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W.  A private family committal service will be conducted on Monday.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
