Patsy Lea (Derringer) Powell

Patsy Lea Powell, 74, of Butlerville passed away at 3:38 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born July 25, 1943 in Jennings County, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of Leoda Campfield Derringer and the late Joseph Lawrence Derringer. She married Daniel Powell on July 3, 1982; he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Powell worked as a Psychiatric Technician for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for several years before her retirement in 2005. She was a former member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; and a member of Am Vets, Eagles and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and flowers and she loved helping with rescue animals and giving them love and a home.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Robert Voelz of Bean Blossom, Darrell Lynn Voelz of Columbus, David C. (Shela Berry) Nantz, Larry McKinly Nantz and Jason Ryan Nantz all of Butlerville; her mother, Leoda Derringer of Butlerville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, a brother, Jerry Derringer and granddaughter, Jessica Clem.

A funeral service for Mrs. Powell will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Tom Woodson officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
