Carol (Schafstall) Pearson

Carol Pearson, 77, of Seymour, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born July 28, 1946, in Seymour; she was the daughter of the late Leroy Schafstall and Martha Irene (Losey) Schafstall Keal. She married Kenneth Merle “Buck” Pearson Sr. on January 21, 1961, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on January 22, 2021.

Carol worked as an aide on a school bus for Jennings County Schools Transportation for 15 years and had previously worked for AWS (disability assistance) in Scipio, Oxford Industries in North Vernon for six months, Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour for 21 years and the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. She was a former member of Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon where she was a member of the Ladies Group of the Church and attended Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour. She enjoyed reading, watching tv, doing laundry and washing dishes.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Merle Pearson Jr. of North Vernon and Trevor (Brandy) Pearson, Seymour; daughters, Deanna (Chuck Robbins) Lee of Columbus and Betty (Roger) Owens of North Vernon; brother, Bobby E. (Sheila) Schafstall of North Vernon; stepbrother, Larry Keal of Tennessee; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Lisa Davidson; brothers, Donald and William Schafstall; stepbrothers, James Bruce, Richard and Daniel Keal.

A funeral service for Carol will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Jimmy Kuntz and Rev. W. Sherman Beville officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2024, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Carol through the funeral home to Susan G Koman for The Cure for Breast Cancer Research.
