Barbara Joan "Bobbie" (Beasley) Carnes

Barbara Joan “Bobbie” Carnes, 78, of North Vernon passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Columbus Regional Health in Columbus.

Born November 19, 1938 in Scipio, Mrs. Carnes was the daughter of Harvey H. Beasley and Eugenia I. Gividen Beasley. She married John A. Carnes. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Carnes was a 1956 graduate of North Vernon High School and attended Indiana Business College in Franklin. She worked as a secretary for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus and work for the North Vernon Park Theatre Civic Centre and Grandma’s Attic. She was a member of Scipio Presbyterian Church in Scipio and a former member of Grace Missionary Baptist in North Vernon. She enjoyed dancing, reading, playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, going to the races and she loved nature.

Survivors include her daughters, Lyndee (Terry) Phipps of Marion and Sharleen (Dave) Wells of Corydon; brother, Paul Eugene McGovern of Greensburg; sisters, Sheila Galliher of Butlerville, Beverly D’Heur of Columbia, Tennessee and Sondra Heckler of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Justin P. (Leandra) Golden of Eaton, Brandon L. (Brittany) Golden of North Vernon, Brittanee Dawn Golden of Marion, Stephanee Joan Voignier of Corydon and one grandson, Nathan W. Golden who preceded her in death on August 17, 2016; great-grandchildren, Natalie Golden, Deryus Mitchell, Cor’tanee Gutierz,  Mauriah, Jaiden, Brooklyn, Jackson, Nevaeh and Aaliyah Golden, Serinetee Leffew and Rilee Voignier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, John Carnes and Albert L. Waltermire, Sr., son Albert Waltermire II, brother, James McGovern.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Scipio Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
