Barbara Jean (Sims) Maitlen

Barbara Jean Maitlen, 87 of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mrs. Maitlen was born on November 5, 1926 in Muncie, Indiana the daughter of Virgil and Mary (Wilson) Sims. She married Thomas Maitlen on February 16, 1946 in Muncie, Indiana; he survives.

Mrs. Maitlen was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, painting landscapes and dogs. She was a 1945 graduate of Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Indiana and was a member of Weston Baptist Church in Jennings County, Indiana.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Thomas Maitlen of North Vernon, Indiana; a daughter, Margaret Boyce of Plainfield, Indiana; two grandchildren, Lisa Boyce of Indianapolis, Indiana and Eric (Katie) Boyce of Coatesville, Indiana; two great grandchildren, Isaac and Taylor Boyce of Coatesville, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.

Memorial may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
