Barbara (McHone) Rodgers

Barbara McHone Rodgers, 82, of North Vernon went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2017.

Born July 21, 1935 in New Albany; the daughter of William and Ruth McHone, and wife of the late William Rodgers for 32 years.

The Rodgers family owned and operated Rodgers Insurance Agency in North Vernon until 1996.

Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Wednesday Research Club and volunteered for many years at the Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge.  Barbara was recently honored as a local artist at the Perfect Day Café, displaying her favorite artwork.  Barbara was best known for her love to dance, her enthusiasm for life, and contagious smile.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth McHone, and husband William R. Rodgers. 

Barbara is survived by her son Brad and Randi Rodgers of Cape Coral, Florida, daughter Brenda and Richard Varnes of Naples, Florida, grandchildren Adam and Kristen Rodgers of Cape Coral, Richard and Janelle Varnes of Naples, and Katie and Lance Martin of Newport, Kentucky, and great grandchildren Iaasac Rodgers and Grayson Rodgers of Cape Coral.

A visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Dove Sharp Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.

A private family burial will be at Kraft-Graceland Cemetery in New Albany.
