Becky Marie (Richards) James, 72, of North Vernon passed away at 5:47 p.m. om Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born April 22, 1946 in Milan, Mrs. James was the daughter of Roy H. and Virginia Mae (Alford) Richards. She married John Richard James on July 2, 1976 in Gallatin Tennessee; he survives.
Mrs. James graduated from Vevay High School in 1964. She worked as a machine operator for Cummins Engine Compnay for 30 years before retiring in 2000. She had been a member of the Graham Baptist Church since 1977 and the Bennington Eastern Star chapter since 1966. She enjoyed playing euchre, the piano, and the organ as well as going to the casino.
Surviving with her husband, John James, is her son, Jonathan T. James of Columbus; her daughters Belinda Heath of North Vernon, Elizabeth (Jeff) Scholar, and Carmela (Steve) Slachter both of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Virginia (Alford) Richards, and her brothers Jim Richards, Bob Richards, and Gayle Richards.
A funeral service for Mrs. James will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Graham Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Lee and Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and friends may call on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A cremation is planned with burial at Graham Baptist Church.
