Betty Lou Stoner, 83, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Greenwood Healthcare Center in Greenwood.
Born February 28, 1936, in Trinity Springs, she was the daughter of Raymond and Eva (Dodson) Nelson. She married Jesse Stoner on November 10, 1955 in North Vernon; he survives.
Betty graduated from Vernon High School in 1954. She was a beautician and owner at Fashionette Beauty Shop and was a florist and former owner of the Flower Mill Floral Shop in North Vernon. She was a former member of the Apostolic Church in North Vernon. Betty enjoyed being an artist and drawing.
Surviving with her husband, Jesse Stoner, is a son, Marcus Stoner of North Vernon; daughters, Stephanie Stoner and Cheryl (Quinn) Payne, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Chad (Christy) Caldwell of Lacksley, Alabama, Scott Stoner of North Vernon, Dustin (Christina) Stoner of Beech Grove, Myranda Stoner of Indianapolis, and Sarah (Chris) Stokes of Seymour; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Stoner of Beech Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Russell, Darrell, Allen, Raymond, and Jerry Nelson; and sisters, Georgia Johnson, Maxine McNulty, and Lorraine Clerkin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
