Carol Sue (Kingen) Engle

Carol Sue Engle, 84, of Vernon, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born March 9, 1935 in Vernon, she was the daughter of Willard Kingen and Eva Grace DeVersey Kingen. She married Leslie Earl Engle on October 12, 1956, in Versailles. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2010.

Carol worked 42 years for the Jennings County School Corporation as head of housekeeping before retiring, she had worked for Vernon and Brush Creek Elementary Schools. She was a member of Vernon Presbyterian Church and Jennings County Senior Center. Carol enjoyed gardening, crafts, decorating, dancing, socializing, especially spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Donald (Jean) Kingen of Elizabethtown; daughters, Susan (Pascal) Hensley of Paris Crossing, and Kim (Roy) Herr of North Vernon; grandchildren, Kami (Scott) Weisgerber of Indianapolis, Jada (Timm) Kuecker of Atlanta, Georgia, Gena Turner of Evansville, Isaiah (Missy) Hensley, Cory (Christy) Herr, and Daniel (Kayla) Herr all of North Vernon; great-grandchildren,  Luke and Cameron Hensley, Thomas and Megan Schuler and Emmett Herr all of North Vernon, and Brayden, Rylan and Clara Turner all of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Nancy Ross and Shirley Brooks.  

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Jean Kingen officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jennings County Senior Center.
