Cecelia V. Pettit, 82, of Seymour, Indiana passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Covered Bridge Health Campus.
Born May 18, 1936, in Jennings County, Mrs. Pettit was the daughter of Charles and Clara Ethel Short Vogel. She married Kent Miller on July 24, 1954; he preceded her in death on February 10, 1988. Mrs. Pettit later married Dale L. Pettit on September 26, 1992 at the North Vernon Methodist Church; he survives.
Mrs. Pettit received a high school degree and went on to work as an office worker at Cummins and a book keeper at Just Rite Supermarket. She was a member of the Tea Creek Baptist Church, the Muscatatuck Moderns, and was active in the Republican party. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving with her second husband, Dale L. Pettit, are sons Ken (Linda) Pettit of Madison, Indiana, Doug (Della) Miller, and Jim (Amy) Pettit, both of North Vernon, Indiana; daughters Cheryl (Greg) McConnell of Fountain Hill, Arizona, Julie (Darrel) Kemmerer of North Vernon, Indiana, and Susan (C.D.) Kenney of Paris Crossing; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kent Miller; her parents; her brother, Harlan Vogel; her infant daughter, Dana Miller; and her son, David Pettit.
A funeral service for Mrs. Pettit will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Rev. Bob Ochs and Rev. Philip Elliot officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Tea Creek Baptist Church.
