Charles Deaton Sr., 84, of North Vernon passed away at 7:44 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at his residence.
Born August 9, 1934, in Perry County, Kentucky, he was the son of Edward and Nanalou McIntosh Deaton. He married Martha Ann “Annie” Bear on August 9, 1981 at their home in North Vernon; she survives.
Mr. Deaton retired in 1996 after 20 years with Arvin’s in North Vernon and had previously worked 7 years for I.T.T. Industries. He enjoyed tinkering, buying, selling and trading, along with fishing and riding his Kubota.
Surviving with his wife, Martha Ann “Annie” Deaton is a son, Mark (Hope) Deaton of Austin; daughter, Brenda Wolf of Austin; sister-in-law, Fay Deaton, of Michigan; grandchildren, Justin (Katlyn) Deaton, Charles Barter, Meagan Ashley, Emily Ashley and William Wolf, all of Austin, Sabrina Deaton of Scottsburg, Ashley Deaton of Indianapolis; several great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Charles Deaton Jr. and Mike Deaton; granddaughter, Carla Faye Barter; brothers, Frank and Billy Deaton; and sisters, Lennie Begley, Mary Byers and Alice Wells.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont.
