Charles Edward Sanders, 82, of Butlerville, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born April 21, 1937, in Waynesburg, Kentucky, he was the son of Chester and Florence (Tolley) Sanders. He married Jean Van on October 7, 1959, in Frankfort, Kentucky; she preceded him in death on September 3, 2007.
Charles worked as a machinist and maintenance for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 20 plus years before retiring. He enjoyed collecting knives, swapping and playing bingo.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Leo Sanders of Butlerville; daughter, Jamie (Kenis) Cornett of North Vernon; brothers, Jack (Bea) Sanders of Paris Crossing, Larry (Karen) Sanders of The Villages, Florida; sisters, Martha Franks, Lorena Seal and Carol Kissick all of North Vernon; ten grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, Larry Wayne, Paul Edward and Don Allen Sanders; brothers, Donald Eugene and Kenneth Sanders; and a sister, Deloris Robbins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
