Chriss Ann (Day) Callahan

Chriss Ann Callahan, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:53 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born March 14, 1955, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Lester and Nellie Pauline (Kidwell) Day. She married Billy Callahan on May 29, 1971, in North Vernon; he survives.

Chriss attended Jennings County High School and was housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed playing softball and watching old horror movies and mobster movies, babysitting and gardening. .

Surviving with her husband, Billy Callahan of North Vernon, are her daughters, Dawnya (Larry) Ward and Angela Wilson, both of Columbus, and Amanda Carmichael  of North Vernon; brother, Darrell (Barbara) Day of Columbus; sister, Judy Yeager of Bloomington; grandchildren, Haley Bowman and Austin Bowman, both of Columbus, Desiree (Kylie) Booker of Seymour, and Camden Lay, Chyanne Wilson, and Raven Wilson, all of North Vernon; and great-grandchild, Kaydennce Mings of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Donavon Booker; and sister, Donna Heilman.

A funeral service for Chriss will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation services with Rev. Edward Wooddell officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
