Dale Robert "Bob" Sherbundy

Dale Robert “Bob” Sherbundy, 80, of Columbus, passed away at 1:24 p.m. on November 20, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born October 5, 1939, in Willard, Ohio, he was the son of Glen Dale and Harriett (Purkhiser) Sherbundy. He married Janice (Jackson) Sherbundy on September 25, 1982 in Columbus; she survives.

Mr. Sherbundy graduated from North Vernon High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 until 1959. He was the vice-president of First Federal Savings and Loan in Miami Lakes, Florida until his retirement in 1993. Additionally, he served as vice president for Citizens Savings and Loan in Columbus for several years and as a loan officer for Fidelity Federal Bank in North Vernon for several years. While in North Vernon he was a city councilman in 1967 and a member of the Jay Cees. Mr. Sherbundy was a member of the Elks Club in Columbus and the Otter Creek Golf Club. He enjoyed family time, his dogs, playing cards, and golf.

Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Scheidt and Michelle (Bill) Warren, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Scheidt of Bargersville, Kristen (Mitchel) Paswater of Columbus, and Kailee (Michael) Bennett of Franklin; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Susie Phillips and Kathryn McKinney.

A funeral service for Mr. Sherbundy will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Jason Scheidt officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery with military graveside rites by Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
