Daniel "Danny" F. Lucas

Daniel F. “Danny” Lucas, 92, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born March 12, 1927, in Brown County, he was the son of Thomas and Ethel (Cox) Lucas. He married Virginia Bowerly on September 17, 1947 in Vernon. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1994.

Danny graduated high school and earned his electrical degree while serving in the U.S. Navy, during WWII from 1943 until 1947. Danny retired in 1988 from REMC in Osgood, working as a lineman and “jack of all trades” for over 25 years. He was a member of Queensville Church and REMC Co-Op. Danny enjoyed coon hunting and playing the fiddle, as well as repairing them.

He is survived by his children, Darin “Windy” (Amy) Lucas of Greensburg, Kevin Lucas and Dee (Tim) Miles of Hayden, and Mary (Danny) Williams of North Vernon; sister, Peggy Haddix of Columbus; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ethel Lucas; his loving wife, Virginia; daughter, Beverly Mathews; several brothers and sisters; and his companion, Ramona Stephens.

A funeral service for Danny will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Gerald Caudill and Rev. Mark Sorrels officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery with Military graveside honors.
