Danny Thomas Erwin, 70, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018, at his residence.
Born May 22, 1948, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Mr. Erwin was the son of Thomas and Margie Hopkins Erwin. He married Carla Jean Knapp on March 1, 1970, in Columbus; she survives.
Mr. Erwin worked cargo van - expediting, was a semi-truck driver and had worked for Shorty’s Tire Service. He was a member of the Chestnut Street Community Church in North Vernon. Mr. Erwin enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, riding motorcycles, and family time with the grandkids.
Surviving with his wife, Carla J. Erwin are sons, Toby Erwin, Billy (Darlene) Erwin both of North Vernon and Corby Erwin of Seymour; daughter, Kimberly Earl of North Vernon; brother, Billy Joe (Patty) Erwin of Hanover; sister, Carolyn (Randall) Jesse of Dupont; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mark Erwin.
A funeral service for Mr. Erwin will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dan Denney officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
