David Russell Long, 52, of Butlerville, passed away at 9:53 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born July 2, 1967, in Seymour, David was the son of Patsy (Eador) Long and the late Wilbur Long. He married Crystal Roth on September 22, 1990 in Versailles; she survives.
David was a 1985 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended Ivy Tech in Columbus. He worked eight years for Metaldyne/Mascotech and had previously worked eight years for Lowes Distribution Center and five years for Wal-Mart both in North Vernon. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed watching television, reading and playing cards and chess. He loved spending time with his grandson, Maddox.
Survivors include his wife, Crystal Long of Butlerville; son, Brandon Long and his wife Shelby, of Columbus; mother, Patsy Long of North Vernon; grandson, Maddox Long of Columbus; and sister, Charlene Burton of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the First Christian Church in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 until time of service. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
