Denny Brandenburg, 79, of North Vernon passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born September 5, 1938, in Beattyville, Kentucky, Mr. Brandenburg was the son of Roscoe and Nora (Spicer) Brandenburg. He married Patricia James on June 24, 1971 in Dickenson, Virginia. She survives.
Mr. Brandenburg was a 1956 graduate of Beattyville, Kentucky High School and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Osceola Co. Road & Bridge in St. Cloud, Florida for 15 years retiring in 2003; and had also worked for Regal Rugs and Litho Carton and Container in North Vernon. He was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in North Vernon. Mr. Brandenburg enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with grandchildren.
Surviving with his wife, Patricia Brandenburg, are sons, Phillip (Laura) Brandenburg of Stanford, Kentucky, David (Candy) Brandenburg, and Mark (Jodie) Brandenburg both of Stanton, Kentucky; daughter, Rita Brandenburg of Stanton, Kentucky; step-son, Kevin Boyd of North Vernon; step-daughters, Karen (Steven) Thayer and Kathy Lee (Bobby) Hopkins both of Scipio and Kay Lynn (Bobby) Stearns of North Vernon; brothers, Ernie (Ruth) Brandenburg of Austin and Howard (Wanda) Brandenburg of North Vernon; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willis Jene and Hershel Brandenburg; sister, Glenna Brandenburg; step-daughter, Kim Eileen Foist and grandchild, Hazel Brandenburg.
In keeping with the family’s wishes cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in North Vernon at a later date. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
