Donn Andrew Altmann, 65, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at his residence.
Born May 8, 1954, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Donald Gene and Mary Ann (Lester) Altmann. He married Pamela Holder on February 14, 1998, in Rockville; she survives.
Donn was a 1972 graduate of Southport High School and served 20 years in the United State Navy. While in the Navy, he served in the military police in Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee; after his time with the Navy, he worked as a private investigator. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, going to festivals and flea markets and he loved animals.
Surviving with his wife, Pamela, are sons, Nikolaus (Erin) Altmann of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania and Caleb (Deanne) Altmann of Richland, North Carolina; daughters, Emily (Eric) Griffen of Newburn, North Carolina, Sara Duda of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Samantha (Tony) Brancatalla of New York, Jessica (Steven) Montgomery of Plainfield, Indiana, Jennifer (T.J.) Ernest of Franklin, Indiana, and Courtney (Don) Quasebarth of Brooklyn, Indiana; sisters, Mary Pat (John) Madeya of Martinsville, Virginia and Amy (Myron) Harris of Martinsville, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rick Riser and Jack Sandlin officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
