Edward “Junebug” Bryant Jr., 69, of Scipio, passed away at 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born May 2, 1950 in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was the son of Edward Bryant Sr., and Wilma Christine (Goins) Bryant. He married Bonnie Petro on July 4, 1986, in Columbus; she survives.
Edward was a 1969 graduate of Columbus High School and served as a medic in the U. S. Air Force and U.S. Army. He worked first aid in insurance for Arvin’s on Gladstone Avenue in Columbus and was employed as a truck driver for Columbus Container from 1994 until his retirement in 2002; he had previously worked as an over road truck driver for 26 years and drove a truck for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a former member of Am Vets Post and Moose Lodge both in Columbus. Edward enjoyed watching westerns, dancing, traveling with his wife Bonnie, when she sang and played guitar, nature, reading, and his dogs.
Surviving with his wife, Bonnie Bryant of Scipio, are sons, Christopher Fox of Austin, Texas and Gary Petro of Scipio; daughters, Brandy Bryant of Hamilton, Ohio and Crystal (John) Tyler of North Vernon; sisters, Tina Burton of Ogilville, Penny Bryant of Columbus and Julia Albrecht of North Vernon; grandchildren, Morgan Ogle of Kentucky, Brandon Bryant, Jay Dixon and Katelynn Dixon, all of Hamilton, Ohio, Dalton (Tori Burton) Gilland of Hayden, Hailey Petro, Hallee Petro, Jonathan Tyler, Lacey Tyler, Paige Tyler, Shea Tyler, and Holly Tyler, all of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Anthony “Tony” Ogle; daughter, Stacia Bryant; and granddaughter, Hannah Petro.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Military honor will be given by member of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W.
