Eva Abbott Carson Kaufman

Eva Abbott Carson Kaufman died at 5:07 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Mrs. Kaufman was employed at Madison State Hospital as an attendant, retiring in 1976 after 15 years. She had also worked at the former Scenic View Restaurant between Vernon and North Vernon and the Pines Restaurant in Seymour. A 1928 graduate of Lovett High School, she was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church, the Missionary Society of the church and Presbyterian Women. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Commiskey Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. Calling is from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at Graham Presbyterian Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Born October 6, 1911, in Jennings Co., Mrs. Kaufman was the daughter of William Forest and Millie Hall Abbott. She married Emery F. Carson on April 22, 1936, and Harry Kaufman on April 8, 1972. Surviving are daughters, Mollie Flo Corbin and Beth Scroggins, both of North Vernon; a brothers, Donald Abbott of Anderson; a sister, Mary Drybread of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Eve Davis and Dan Corbin, both of North Vernon, Mark Corbin of Corona, Calif., Millie Corbin-Beverly and Michele Richardson, both of Columbus, and Rick Scrogins of El Paso, Texas; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, David A. Carson; and a sister, Florence Bewley.
