George Sampson, 84, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at The Laurels of West Carrollton, Ohio.
Born May 21, 1933, in Vernon, Mr. Sampson was the son of Samuel and Ella Day Sampson.
Mr. Sampson served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He worked for Plumbers Supply in Miamisburg, Ohio for 25 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and The American Legion both in Miamisburg, Ohio. Mr. Sampson enjoyed playing guitar and pool and loved Merle Haggard music.
He is survived by his sons, Sam (Judy) Sampson of Anacoco, Louisiana, David (Anna) Sampson of Killeen, Texas, Warren (Jewell) Sampson of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Bryan Sampson of Miamisburg, Ohio and George Sampson of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Sharona (Glenn) Mueller of Wilmington, Ohio and Rhonda (James) Stephens of Shelbyville, Tennessee; brother, David (Kathy) Sampson of North Vernon; sister, Donna (Lewis) Davison of North Vernon; grandchildren, Brandy Williams of Anacoco, Louisiana, Jared (Helen) Williams of Port Aransas, Texas, David (Jenn) Sampson of Calgary, Canada, Brooke Sampson of Killeen, Texas, Calista (Evan) Williams of South Carolina, Jeffrey Jones of Xenia, Ohio, Christopher (Teresa) Sampson of Unionville, Tennessee, Joseph Sampson of West Carrollton, Ohio and Dylan Sampson of Miamisburg, Ohio and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Buddy and Samuel Sampson; sisters, Louise Johnson and Bonnie Matthews and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Landon Sampson.
A funeral service for Mr. Sampson will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites.
