George Russell Sheppard

George Russell Sheppard, 59, of North Vernon passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born April 22, 1959, in Shelbyville, Mr. Sheppard was the son of Jack Norman Sheppard and Edith Winchester James. He married Nettie Burton on March 13, 1982 in Vernon; she survives.

Mr. Sheppard worked in construction having worked for Duncan-Robertson Construction in Franklin for ten years, Bridge Construction, and Coffee Excavating in Shelbyville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

Surviving with his wife, Nettie Sheppard, are sons, Uriah Richardson of Seymour, David (Korri) Sheppard of Bradenton, Florida and Jacob Sheppard of North Vernon; daughter, Sarah (Adam) Coleman of North Vernon; step-mother, Sandy Sheppard of Morristown; brothers, Jack (Jolea) Sheppard of Iowa, William Sheppard, Richard Sheppard and John Sheppard, all of North Vernon, Jason (Anny) Sheppard of Shelbyville, Terry (Regina) Owens of Morristown and Dominique Harlan (Maurice) James of Louisville, Kentucky;  sisters, Jessica Sheppard of Morristown and Tina James of North Vernon; grandchildren, Alex Richardson and Emily Richardson, both of Seymour, Luke Coleman, Chrisanna Coleman, Jak Sheppard and George Sheppard, all of North Vernon and Clarke Sheppard of Bradenton, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; sister, Angela Calvert; brothers, Kenneth and David Sheppard; and granddaughter, Ava Coleman.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association in memory of his granddaughter Ava Coleman.
