James Edward Engelking, 50, of North Vernon passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018, at his residence.
Born September 4, 1967, in Seymour, Mr. Engelking was the son of Lawrence Richard and Esther Eileen Foster Engelking. He married Melinda Sweany on June 14, 1993, in Vernon; she survives.
Mr. Engelking was a 1987 graduate of Crothersville High School and worked in the billing department for Lowes Distribution Center in North Vernon for one year; he had previously worked for A.I.S.I.N. as a driver and on the assembly line for 20 years and Mairah Packing for eight years. Mr. Engelking enjoyed fishing, camping, kids, spending time with his family, and volunteering with the Good Samaritan Food Pantry.
Surviving with his wife, Melinda Engelking are a son, James Engelking of North Vernon; daughter, Hanna (Tom) Aumann of North Vernon; brothers, Everette Engelking and Mark (Star) Engelking both of Seymour, Jim (Jackie) Kidd of Brownstown, Russell (Sheila) Engelking of Kentucky, Leroy (Young) Engelking of California; sister, Anita (Matt) Engleking of Seymour; grandchildren, Talia and Izabella Aumann both of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Joshua Engelking; brother Herbert Engelking; sister, Karen Kidd and grandson, Scott Aumann.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the Funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon.
