James Albert Joslin, 83, of North Vernon passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his residence.
Born May 18, 1934, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Mr. Joslin was the son of Edger and Gertrude Gifford Joslin. He married Vonnie Burton on April 14, 1958 in Port Clinton, Ohio. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2014.
Mr. Joslin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked in machinery for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus retiring after almost 30 years. He was a member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge. Mr. Joslin enjoyed fishing, woodworking and always like helping others.
Mr. Joslin is survived by his sisters, Jo Ann (Robert) Dress of Louisville, Kentucky and Kathryn (Mike) Roberts of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Jerad (Clara) Smith of Florence, Kentucky and Leonard (Sierra) Burton of Port St. Lucie, Florida; great-grandchildren, Zailyne Smith, Martell Smith, Cariel Smith and Caitlin Smith all of Florence, Kentucky, Patience Stogdill of Seymour and Olivia Wade of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughters, Patricia Smith and Tammy Proffitt; brothers, John Franklin, Charles, Bobby Ray and Billy Joslin; sisters, Helen Burton and Ruby Cobb; and granddaughter, Cara Smith.
A funeral service for Mr. Joslin will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
