James May Obituary

James Daniel May, 47, of North Vernon, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019, at his residence.

Born December 8, 1971, in Muncie, he was the son of JoAnn (Jurgens) May and the late Joseph Arthur May. He married Vanessa Spurlock on November 14, 2015 in North Vernon; she survives.

James worked in concrete-construction for Big D Concrete in Springfield, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, going camping and riding motorcycles.

Surviving with his wife, Vanessa May, are sons, Justin (Destiny) May, and Joshua (Brooke Fairchild) Henson, both of Mannford, Oklahoma,  James Daniel (Hailey Wesley) Henley and Joseph May, both of Oklahoma, and William Weekly of Austin; daughters, Jessica Lewis of Indianapolis, Alyssa May of Oklahoma and Donna Weekly of North Vernon; brothers, Joseph (Tammy) May of Mannford, Oklahoma and Discan (Kerri) Noriega of North Vernon; sisters, Sarah Noriega of Austin and Kimberly Blair of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jax May, Bristol May, Baker May, Abigail Henson, Walker Henley, and Kensley May, all of Oklahoma, Levi Lewis of Scottsburg, and Myah Quiles of North Vernon; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, Daniel Michael Weekly; and grandson, Quintan Lewis.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
