Jean Thomas, 83, of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at her residence.
Born December 25, 1934, in Lovett, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of James and Leona Mousa Morin. She married Dennis Edward “Denny” Thomas on June 7, 1953 at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County, he preceded her in death on March 18, 2002.
Mrs. Thomas was a 1953 graduate of Paris Crossing High School, she was a school bus driver for Jennings County Schools for 27 years driving at Graham Creek Elementary School; Mrs. Thomas also drove the Versailles Shuttle and the wrestling team. She was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church where she played the piano. One of Mrs. Thomas’ fondest enjoyments was when she was cooking at the fair booth to help raise money to build Commiskey Baptist Church; she also enjoyed watching cattle and dogs.
She is survived by her son, Don (Robin) Thomas of Lovett; daughter, Shirley (Rick) Lucas of Commiskey; brother, Ray Morin of North Vernon; sister, June (George) Corya of Commiskey; grandchildren, Larry Joe Risk and Justin Lucas both of Lovett, DeAnna (Tony) Vincent of North Vernon, Mariah (Steven) Georges of Franklin and McKinnley (Allison) Lucas of Commiskey; great-grandchildren, Victoria Jo Risk of Lovett, Samantha Risk and Natalie Vincent both of North Vernon and Amelia Georges of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Earl and Roe Morin and sister, Joy Flack.
A funeral service for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Lovett with the Rev. Dan Corbin and Rev. Gary Haines officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Tea Creek Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.
