Jerry Thomas Garrett, 69, of Paris Crossing, passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at his residence.
Born August 3, 1950, in Seymour, he was the son of Jessie and Hazel (Smith) Garrett. He married Brenda Fitzgerald on January 11, 1975 in Eminence, Kentucky; she survives.
Jerry was a pastor at his home church in Paris Crossing and worked for Auto Electric Service in North Vernon. He had also worked as an airplane mechanic for the North Vernon Airport and construction for both Bert Ray and Jack Pettigrew. Jerry enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying and working on airplanes, building sprint cars, hunting, target practice, and guns. At age 48, he found the Lord and his passion was the Word of God.
Surviving with his wife, Brenda; are his sisters, Toni (Jerry) Lee of Columbus, and Lynn (John) Foster of Osgood; mother-in-law, Roberta Fitzgerald of Carrolton, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Carl Glenn Fitzgerald of Carrolton, Kentucky; and sister-in-law, Karen Rae (Wayne) Snyder of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Jennings County.
