Lewis Edward Richardson, 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 3:33 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his summer residence in North Vernon, Indiana.
Born October 8, 1936, in Ripley County, Indiana, he was the son of Everett and Florence (Sawyer) Richardson. He married Wanda Lou Henry on June 9, 1957 in Sardinia, Indiana; she survives.
Lewis was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School in Decatur County, Indiana. He worked in material control for Cummins Engine Company, in Columbus, Indiana for 32 years before retiring in 1996 and was a lifelong farmer. Lewis was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Florida and a former member of Bible Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. He enjoyed repairing things, handy work, helping others, playing euchre, eating, and drinking coffee.
Survivors with his wife, Wanda Richardson, are sons, Brad Richardson and Dale Richardson, both of North Vernon, Indiana; daughters, Cindy Stanger of Scipio, Indiana and Nancy (Ron) Walls of North Vernon, Indiana; sister, Carol (Charles) Burnett of Evansville, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Donald, Robert and Darell Richardson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, Indiana. Family and Friends may call on Monday, August 19, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Cave Springs Cemetery in Jennings County, Indiana.
Memorials in honor of Lewis may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana or Hope Children’s Home in Florida.
