Linda Lou Mitchell, 74, of Shreveport, Louisiana, formerly of Jennings County, passed away on October 3, 2017, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Born November 9, 1942, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Vail and Loula Ellis Holmes. She married William Mitchell on August 31, 1961, at the Freedom Church in Jennings County. He survives.
Mrs. Mitchell was a 1960 graduate of Vernon High School and worked as a LPN for a nursing home in Dandridge, Tennessee, for 5 years before retiring, and had previously worked for Millers Merry Manor in Hope for 20 years and Heritage House in Greensburg for six years. She was a former member of Waynesburg Christian Church and attended Red River Community Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed camping, traveling, hiking, shopping, antiques and genealogy.
Surviving with her husband, William, are sons, Todd Mitchell of Hope, Jon (Gretchen) Mitchell of Greensburg and Joel (Amy) Mitchell of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughters, Paula Mitchell of Dunedin, Florida and Dawn (Carl) Fields of Hartsville; brothers, Jim (Marcie) Holmes of Bloomington, Jack (Shirley) Holmes of Butlerville and Bill (Vickie) Holmes of Greensburg; sister, Terri (Ken) Everage of North Vernon; grandchildren, Ethan (Abby) Fields of Fort Wayne, Aaron Fields of Hartsville, Jade Glore of Louisville, Kentucky, Kyler Mitchell and Corbin Mitchell both of Greensburg, Maverick Mitchell, Luke Mitchell and Blake Mitchell all of North Vernon, Nevin Mitchell and Brendan Mitchell both of Shreveport, Louisiana and great-grandchild, Liam Fields of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Waynesburg Christian Church with the Rev. David Burnett officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Service. Private Burial will take place in Vernon Cemetery. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Waynesburg Christian Church through the funeral home.
