Lucy Golden, 84, of Columbus formerly of North Vernon passed away at 8:31 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018, at her residence.
Born April 7, 1933, in Bell County, Kentucky, the daughter of Pete and Mary Maiden Bays. She married Walter Golden Sr., on November 8, 1953 in Pineville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2002.
Mrs. Golden was an in-home caregiver for 20 plus years. She attended school in a one room school house in Pineville, Kentucky. She was a former member of Ivy Hill Baptist Church in Salem and attended Mercy Missionary Baptist in Columbus. She enjoyed canning, sewing, gardener and was a spotless housekeeper.
She is survived by her sons, Walter Golden, Jr. of Lima, Ohio, Terry (Cindy) Golden of Lansing, Michigan and Lonnie Golden of North Vernon; daughters, Kathy (Gary) Carroll of Columbus and Mary Ann (Woody Carter) Gladden of Indianapolis; brothers, Leonard (Frances) Bays of Scipio; sisters, Nora Jordan and Ruby Brewer both of Lima, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her infant twin brother and sister; brother Elam Bays; daughter-in-law, Teresa Golden.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cave Springs Cemetery in Jennings County.
