Madeline (Harrision) Hess

Madeline Hess, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at her residence.

Born October 17, 1925, in Sand Gap, Kentucky, Mrs. Hess was the daughter of Mathias and Bessie Rose Harrison. She married Aaron Hess in March of 1953 in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2016.

Mrs. Hess attended Jackson School in Estell County, Kentucky and worked as a beautician for more than fifty years before retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and collecting dolls.

Mrs. Hess is survived by her son, Bruce Hess, of North Vernon; daughter, Kristina (Kevin) Royalty, of Madison; brothers Virgil Harrison of Irvine, Kentucky and Robert (Christine) Harrison of McKee, Kentucky; sisters Margie Simmons of North Vernon, Frances Cain of Irvine, Kentucky, Janet Collins of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Emma Jane (Archie Fox) Harrison of Winchester, Kentucky; grandchildren Patrick Black of Columbus, Bradley (Eva) Hall of Lancaster, Kentucky, and David (Kim) Hall of Frankfort, Kentucky; great grandchildren Megan Hall and Logan Hall, both of Lancaster, Kentucky; and great great grandchild Brooklynn Hardin of Lancaster, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Ramey; second husband, Aaron Hess; parents, Mathias and Bessie Rose Harrison; son, Gregory Aaron Hess; grandson, James Hall; brothers Kenneth Harrison, Egbert Harrison, Ebert Harrison, Lowell Harrison, and Darrell Harrison; and sisters Geraldine McPherson and Barbara Harrison.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hess will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Bruce Watts officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
