Marie Odette (Zornes) Lane

Marie Odette Lane, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

Born November 6, 1923, in Shirley, Mrs. Lane was the daughter of the late Millard Lacy and Hattie Pearl Cline Zornes. She married Charles M. Lane on December 24, 1940, in New Castle, He preceded her in death on March 15, 1987.

Mrs. Lane worked at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for seven years and was a Foster Grandparent for 12 years retiring in 2004. She was a member of Gum Street Church of God in North Vernon and attended Alert Methodist Church in Alert. She enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening.

She is survived by her son, Charles B. (Rita) Lane of Westport; daughters, Sandy (Russell) MacAslan of Shelbyville, Sally (Peter) Langtange of Westport, Lisa (Phillip) Buster of Columbus, Kathy (Mike) Webb and Lori (Bruce) Williams both of North Vernon; sister-in-law, Kathy Barrett of New Castle; grandchildren, Karen K. Lowe of Shelbyville, Brian W. MacAslan of Indianapolis, Melissa (Rick) Taylor of Denver, North Carolina, Tony (Tammy) Lane of Scipio, Tina Marie Rafferty and Kirk Russell Barnes both of Westport, Leslie (Chris) Smith and Brittany L. (Josh) Joy both of Columbus, Michael D. Webb of California, Taylor Buster of Colorado, Emily Williams of Terre Haute, Sara Skinner, James Hiday, Kristi A. (John) Gunn, Chelsea (Billy) Davis and Katelyn B. (Logan) Shafer all of North Vernon, twenty one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Roger Lane; daughter, Lois Anne Lane; sister, Anna M. Webb and brothers, Thurston, Elmer, Estell and Raymond Zornes.

A funeral service for Mrs. Lane will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 in the Batson Cemetery in New Castle.
