Mary Frances Gillespie, 68, of North Vernon passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at her residence.
Born October 31, 1949 in Gary, Mrs. Gillespie was the daughter of Mary Fletcher Johnson and the late Brown Johnson. She married Jim Gillespie on September 29, 2001 at the Otter Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County. He survives.
Mrs. Gillespie was a caregiver for the sick, she also worked customer service for Wal-Mart in North Vernon; a supervisor for K-Mart in North Vernon and was a travel agent. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding squirrels and reading.
Surviving with her husband, Jim Gillespie are a son, Daryl (Christina) Amis of Brownstown; mother, Mary Johnson of North Vernon; brother, Ron Johnson of Tennessee; sister, Theresa (Randy) Clendenning of South Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher (Micaela) Amis and Jonathan (Samantha) Amis both of Brownstown; Gary (Jesse) Amis of Holton, Alex and Andrea Amis both of North Vernon and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, son, Gary Amis; brother, Granville Johnson and sister, Starene Bertram.
A funeral service for Mrs. Gillespie will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Daryl Amis officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
