Mary Lucille York, 81, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:16 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Golden Living Center in Bloomington.
Born September 13, 1937 in North Vernon, she was the daughter of John and Susie Mae (Lyle) Shelton.
Ms. York attended North Vernon High School and was a housewife and homemaker and worked in the cafeteria for Jennings County School Corporation and cleaned houses. She was a member of Second United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Eric (Norma) York of Phelan, California, and Keith (Lisa Peyton) York of Bloomington; daughters, Mary York of Lafayette and Genny Sue York of Columbus; brother, Dale Shelton of Erie, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Ben Wilder of North Vernon; Jeremiah York and Elizabeth Ashley York both of Lancaster, California, Tia Wells of Muncie, Michael (Andre) York of Lafayette, Jason Mack of Indianapolis, John (Marcia) Mack and Chris Mack all of Columbus, and Mallory (Latham) Hawkins of Indianapolis; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Garnett York Jr.; brothers, Alvin and William Shelton; and sisters, Ada Colbert and Wanda Tevis.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Eric York officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Ms. York through the funeral home for expenses.
