Minnie Mae (Milliman) Waltermire

Minnie Mae Waltermire, 82, of Scipio passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born June 24, 1935 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Lavern and Lena Gard Milliman. She married Albert Lorenze Waltermire Sr. on February 1, 1975 in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on March 12, 2016.

Mrs. Waltermire was a 1953 graduate of North Vernon High School and worked as a DST attendant for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, and in housekeeping for several nursing homes. She enjoyed fishing, raising rabbits, she received 2nd place in State of Indiana for showing rabbits, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include sons, Harold (Vicki) Hartwell of Holton, Loyd (Norma) Hockersmith of North Vernon and Alan Hulse of North Vernon; daughters, Frances (Jack) Sandlin of Versailles, Marilyn Brooks of North Vernon, Sandra (Keith) Conrad of Elizabethtown; Tressa (Damian McGowan) Tillett of Columbus, Lyndee (Terry) Phipps of Marion, and Sharleen (Dave) Wells of New Albany; 33 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Rob Tillett, Albert Waltermire Jr, Gary Hartwell; daughter, Patricia Jean Hartwell, brothers, Robert and Merrill “Bud” Milliman and sister, Tressie Gwaltney.

A funeral service for Mrs. Waltermire will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jennings County 4H Rabbit Club.
