Nellie Perkins, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Perkins was born on December 1, 1929, in Kokomo. She married Robert Perkins on August 13, 1995, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; he survives.
Mrs. Perkins was a 1947 graduate of West Middleton High School in West Middleton, she worked as a cashier in pharmacy for Wal-Mart in North Vernon for 11 years and a cook for Bartholomew County Schools for several years. Mrs. Perkins was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and she enjoyed sewing, birds, butterflies, collecting dolls and being around people.
Surviving with her husband, Robert is son, Rex (Clara) Elliott of Hillsboro, Tennessee; daughters, Connie Simmonds of Brown County and Rhea Elliott of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Walter Thomas of Columbus; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Ernest Eugene Elliott; six brothers; and three sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
