Nita Mae Gordon, 74, of North Vernon, IN, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in North Vernon, IN.
Born April 16, 1945, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Kermit and Mary Frances (Wells) Bowlby.
Nita retired on May 31, 1991 from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, IN after working there since 1976; she had previously worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass in Kokomo, IN and Down on Main Street in Greentown, IN. She was a member of Local 685 UAW Union; a former member of Order of Eastern Star in Kokomo, IN and attended Grayford Road Church of God in North Vernon, IN. Nita enjoyed taking care of family and friends, going for walks and hiking, cooking, fishing and nature.
Survivors include her daughters, Kelly (Gary) Harmon of North Vernon, IN and Kristi (Stacy) Brown of Seymour, IN; brothers, Ward (Lois) Bowlby of Russiaville, IN and Don (Pat) Beech of Mexico, IN; grandchildren, Kayla (Josh) Brown, Allyssya Staples and Elijah Harmon all of North Vernon, IN, Alanah (Jeremy) McMurphy and Joe Irwin both of Kokomo, IN, and Levi (Naomi) McMurphy of Crothersville, IN and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Michael Travis Kuntz.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Honey Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Russiaville, IN. Committal of remains will be in the Sharpsville Cemetery in Sharpsville, IN. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, IN was entrusted with arrangements.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Heart Center in Indianapolis, IN with St. Vincent Hospital.
