Raymond Harold Rhodes, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:54 a.m. on July 20, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
A funeral service for Mr. Rhodes will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Burial will be at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to Memphis, Tennessee’s St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Born January 1, 1945, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mr. Rhodes was the son of Joe and Novella (Frazier) Rhodes. In 1976, he chose Beth Besaw to be his life partner and wife.
Mr. Rhodes graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in Kenneth City, Florida and went on to become an OTR truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Surviving with his wife, Beth D. Besaw, is his son, Sergeant Major David R. Rhodes of St. Petersburg, Florida; his daughter in-law, Donnell Rhodes, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his grandson, Devon Ray Rhodes, of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his granddaughter, Bethany Jean Rhodes, of St. Petersburg, Florida who is an attendee at Syracuse University.
Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Novella (Frazier) Rhodes and his brothers Nelson Rhodes and Vernon Rhodes.
