Robert Eugene "Bob" Allen

Robert Eugene “Bob” Allen, 62, of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born, July 17, 1956 in Marion, Illinois, Mr. Allen was the son of Herman Eugene and Gladys Grace Shumaker Allen. He married Monika Eichhorn on December 28, 1984 in Germany, she survives.

Mr. Allen was a 1974 graduate of Arlington High School in Indianapolis and served in the U.S. Army. He worked transportation/sort supervisor for UPS in Versailles for 28 years and Stearns Plumbing in North Vernon for 10 years. Mr. Allen enjoyed carpentry and fishing.

Surviving with his wife, Monika, are sons, Raymond (Kymberly) Allen of Miami, Florida and Daniel (Janelle) Rice of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter, Sarah (John) Leffler of Plainfield; sister, Shirley Johnson of North Vernon; grandchildren, Landon, Peyton and Jaelyn Rice all of Norman, Oklahoma, J.J. Leffler of Plainfield and Olivia Allen of Miami, Florida.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Patricia Smith.

A funeral service for Mr. Allen will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Entombment will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis. Military rites for Mr. Allen will be provided.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
