Robert Howard Dalton Jr.

Robert Howard Dalton Jr., 87, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at his residence.

Born January 3, 1931, in Albany, Kentucky, Mr. Dalton was the son of Robert H. Dalton Sr. and Wilma Cross Dalton. He married Marcelene Clark on June 2, 1951, in Jamestown, Tennessee. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2015.

Mr. Dalton worked as a crane operator for Continental Steel in Kokomo. He was a member of Queensville Community Church. Mr. Dalton served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954. After completing basic training, he was stationed in Alaska where he was a truck driver.

Survivors include a son, Steven (Peggy) Dalton of North Vernon, Indiana; daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Hefner of North Vernon, Indiana and Sheila (Edward) Braithwaite of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; brothers, Evertt Dalton of Campbellsville, Kentucky and Donell Dalton of New Castle; sister, Francis Day of Vacaville, California; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter Cathy Kilgore, grandson, Michael Weaver and brothers, Earl and Edward Dalton.

A funeral service for Mr. Dalton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, March 19, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made through the funeral home to Queensville Community Church.
