Robert Neal Selig, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at his residence.
Born March 23, 1939, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Henry and Bessie (Aldridge) Selig. He married Thelma Campfield on January 29, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon, she survives.
Robert was a 1957 graduate of Hanover High School and served in the National Guard from 1956 until 1963. He worked the assembly line for Cummins Engine Company retiring in 1995 after 31 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon. Robert enjoyed watching TV, yardwork, cats, studying the Bible, and he authored a book titled “To Our Christian God with Love” under the pen name T.J. Keller.
Surviving with his wife of 58 years, Thelma is a son, Jason Neal Selig of North Vernon; daughters, Diana Lynn Robertson and Christina Jean Selig, both of North Vernon; sister, Helena Polly Boldery of Madison; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn (Bill) Brandt of Hayden, Dana Marie (Josh) Hartwell of Indianapolis, Heather Dawn Harmon of Greensburg, Marly Victorian (Zach) Mulligan of North Vernon, and Neal Scott Selig of Alabama and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Selig and brothers, Lloyd, Donald and Larry Franklin Selig.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Bob Lay officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
