Roger Eugene Raney

Roger Eugene Raney, 72, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born August 2, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late Eugene Raney and Geraldine (Moore Raney) Kokoska. He married Donna Louise Mathews on December 24, 1965 in Orlando, Florida, she preceded him in death on December 30, 2007.

Roger owned Coil Supply and Raney Manufacturing in Seymour until his retirement; he loved working in the steel business. Roger was an avid sports lover and he enjoyed coaching sports and playing softball, basketball, golf, bowling, and playing cards along with watching old westerns and telling stories.  Roger loved animals and loved spending time with his two cats.

He is survived by his children, Tracy (Robbie) Pittman of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Roger (Tammy) Raney of Dover, Delaware and Cheryl (Jason) Wetzel of North Vernon; siblings, Jackie Gould of Georgia, Gary Raney of Florida and Mark (Marie) Kokoska of Georgia; grandchildren, James Pittman, Donnavon Pittman, and Austin Pittman, all of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Christopher Raney, Kelsey Weber, and Zachary Raney, Shane Weber, and  Zachary (Jessica) Weber, all of Dover, Delaware, Jacob (Mckayla) Raney of Vicenza, Italy, and Nikkie Russell of Kentucky; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Raney and Geraldine Kokoska; his loving wife Donna Louise Raney; and loving daughter, Cyndi Raney; and sister, Carol Slaughter.

A memorial service for Roger will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, with calling from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc or Jennings County Animal Control.
