Ronald Robert Whiteman

Ronald Robert Whiteman, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at the home of his daughter.

Born June 6, 1943, in Indianapolis, the son of Albert and Virginia Bell Curr Whiteman. He married Julia Kay Riggle on February 19, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2015.

Mr. Whiteman worked as a machinist for International Harvester in Indianapolis retiring in 1985. He attended the First Assembly of God in North Vernon and was a member of Royal Rangers in North Vernon. Mr. Whiteman loved going to church, fishing camping, playing card and board games, but his main love was his grandkids.

Survivors include his sons, David (Cathy) Whiteman and Kelly (Ann) Whiteman both of Indianapolis, Dane (Ramona) Whiteman and Bradley Wiles both of North Vernon; daughter, Shannon (Donald) Walker of North Vernon; sisters, Elizabeth Furguson of Bloomfield, Wanda Whiteman of Worthington and Dena McGown of Tennessee; grandchildren, Ashely and Kentin Heilman both of Hayden, Anthony (Cathy) Whiteman, Amanda (Daniel) Kent, Allison and Dalton Walker all of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Lily and Amiyah Whiteman, Dakota Wiliimans and Chloe Kent all of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Bill and Tim Whiteman and sister, Ellen Whiteman.

In keeping with his and his family’s wishes cremation is planned. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Whiteman through funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
