Russell Junior Richardson

Russell Junior Richardson, 81, of Deputy, passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton’s Health Care Pavilion in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born February 12, 1936, in Lexington, Mr. Richardson was the son of Russell Millard and Lavena Louise Dean Richardson. He married Virginia Chatham on October 2, 1954 in Madison. She survives.

Mr. Richardson served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958 being stationed in California, Colorado, Arkansas and served a tour in Africa. He was a union laborer working construction and had worked for C&B Concrete/Construction in Madison before retiring in 1997. He was a member of Butlerville Mennonite Church in Butlerville, New Albany Labor Union and a former member of Madison V.F.W. Mr. Richardson enjoyed fishing, hunting, family time, yard work and mowing; his passion was gardening.

Surviving with his wife, Virginia are sons, Roger Dale (Sheryl) Richardson of Deputy, Russell Wayne “Whitey” (Annette) Richardson and Ricky Allen (Sharon) Richardson both of Commiskey, Terry Lee (Mary) Richardson of North Vernon; daughters, Debra Mae (John) Williams of Brandon, Florida and Tammy L. (John) Melton of Deputy; sister, Myrtle Hunt of Deputy; sixteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Shelton, Wilma Helton, and Cindy Richardson; and great-grandchild, Zachary Halloran.

A funeral service for Mr. Richardson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Military rites will be provided by the local V.F.W. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
