Samuel Lorenz Spaulding

May 19, 1946 ~ April 6, 2018 (age 71)

Samuel Lorenz Spaulding, 71, of Seymour passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born May 19, 1946, in Jennings County, Mr. Spaulding was the son of James and Sarah Lawrence Spaulding.

Mr. Spaulding worked as a mechanic for Bob Poynter Chevrolet in Seymour for 22 years retiring in 2011; he had previously worked for Bob Thomas Chevrolet in Brownstown and Ruddick’s Garage in Seymour. He was a member of Mountain Baptist Church, Eagles Lodge and American Legion Post all in Seymour. Mr. Spaulding enjoyed listening to live music, playing bingo, helping neighbors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Robert (Tish) Holbrook of Austin; daughters, Nikki (Chris Pelt) Spaulding of Seymour and Denise (Robert) Dean of Salem; brothers, Tim (Roberta) Spaulding of North Vernon and Butch (Judy) Spaulding of Seymour; sister, Minnie (Doug) Johnson of Seymour; twenty-nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Crystal Spaulding Hall; brothers, David and Frank Spaulding, James Lawrence; sisters, Mary Napier, Clara Valentine, Maxine Heitz and Anna Mae Freeman.

A funeral service for Mr. Spaulding will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
