Sandra Melvina Tillery, 67, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
Born March 7, 1951, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Jesse David and Bobbie Jean (Kebbler) James.
Ms. Tillery attended North Vernon High School and served in the United States Army in 1969. She worked for Rainbow Disposal and later for Best Way Disposal as a truck driver until she retired after 11 years in 2013. After this, she worked for Lee’s Wrecker as a driver and office worker. She was a member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge and a former member of the Butlerville Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and designing cakes.
Ms. Tillery is survived by sons, Thomas Allen (Tracy) Hendricks, Robert Wayne (Shannon) Hendricks, and John William (Kim) Hendricks, all of North Vernon; daughters, Michelle Hendricks and Melissa Mae (Isaac) Holloway, both of North Vernon, and Reneé (Craig) Jones of Greensburg; her step-mother, Marie James of Greensburg; brother, Jimmy (Kathy) James of Columbus; sister, Tamera Darlene Lee of North Vernon; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Bobbie James; brother, David Allen James; and granddaughter, London Hendricks.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Moose Lodge in North Vernon. In keeping with the families wishes, cremation is planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
