Shelvia Ann Lane, 81, of Morgantown, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Born September 20, 1936, in Jennings County, Mrs. Lane was the daughter of Arthur and Rachel Allen Hendricks. She married Chester W. Lane on May 8, 1955, in North Vernon; he survives.
Mrs. Lane was a 1955 graduate of Paris Crossing High School in Paris Crossing, she worked in sales for Sears in Greenwood for 32 years before retiring in 1998. She was a former member of Bluff Creek Christian Church in Bluff Creek, Valley Riders Saddle Club and Toastmistresses both in Franklin, Scoutmasters-Girl Scout Leader. She was a Volunteer at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin and a member of Business Women’s Association. Mrs. Lane enjoyed horses, sewing, scrapbooking and traveling.
Surviving with her husband, Chester W. Lane, are sons, Tod Alan Lane of East Enterprise and Kenneth Garrett Lane of Morgantown; six grandchildren, William Lane of Franklin, April (James) Ayler of Madison, Sabrina Cogill and Josie (TJ) Anderson both of Greensburg, Sara Cramer of Trafalgar and Amanda (Josh) Shanafelt of Greenwood; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herbert Hendricks; and sister, Bernette Galliher; daughter-in-law, Mary Evelyn Lane; and an infant brother and sister, Allen Eugen and Eula Faye Hendricks.
A funeral service for Mrs. Lane will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. David Mark Owens officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Jennings County.
